360 degree action camera

360-Degree Action Cam Will Lead Expanded Vivitar POV Line

LAS VEGAS (January 6, 2016 – CES Booth #13228) – Vivitar is upping its action cam game with the planned Q2 release of four new point-of-view video cameras, including a 360-degree action cam that will cost less than half of most products in the category at $169.99 (MSRP). The expanded lineup of value-priced Vivitar action cams will also include a 180-degree model for wide-angle image capture and a separate model offering next-generation 4K video resolution. All four will be Wi-Fi-enabled, come with a waterproof case, and be available initially at Walmart, Target and Amazon.

The 360-degree Vivitar DVR988HD 360 Cam will feature two 180-degree lenses on the front and back of the square-shaped housing along with built-in video stitching software that can be configured to automatically merge the two views into a seamless panoramic image of your latest adventure. The camera will record full HD 1080 x 1080 pixel video at 30 frames per second, capture still images at 12.1 MP resolution, shoot roughly four hours of video on a single battery charge, and incorporate 200MB of internal storage as well as a Micro SD slot for an additional 256GB.

The 360 Cam will also incorporate a 2” preview screen and built-in Wi-Fi for easy photo/video transfer to smartphones or tablets for sharing with friends, family or social media. Accessories included in the package will include a waterproof case for shooting up to 30 feet underwater, plus a wall charger, sync/charge cable, helmet mount, ATV/bicycle mount, and wireless on/off remote control. The remote can be strapped to the wrist for easy camera activation the second you see something you want to get on camera – from the first lurch of a roller coaster ride on your family vacation to the perfect wave rolling toward your surfboard.

Other new Vivitar action cams will include:

• The Vivitar DVR968HD 180 Cam, featuring a 180-degree field of view that captures extra-wide-angle images reaching to the outer edges of the user’s peripheral vision. It will feature the same form factor, full HD 1080P video and 12.1 MP photo capture, 2” preview screen, built-in Wi-Fi, storage and accessories as the 360 Cam. (MSRP $149.99)

• The Vivitar DVR914HD 4K Action Cam, distinguished by a 4K video recording resolution at 30 frames per second that is emerging as the new standard in image quality. It will feature a slim rectangular form factor, the same full HD 1080P video and 12.1 MP photo capture, 2” preview screen, built-in Wi-Fi, storage and accessories as the 360 Cam plus a free-standing mount. (MSRP $149.99)

• The Vivitar DVR794HD Wi-Fi Action Cam, the entry-level Wi-Fi model in the series. It will feature the same form factor, full HD 1080P video and 12.1 MP photo capture, 2” preview screen, built-in Wi-Fi, storage and accessories as the 360 Cam. (MSRP $99.99)

The four new action cams will join two non-Wi-Fi models that hit store shelves last fall. The Vivitar DVR783HD Action Cam (MSRP $39.99) provides HD video recording, 5.1 MP still image capture, and a 1.8” preview screen. The Vivitar DVR786HD Full HD Action Cam (MSRP $69.99) takes 1080P video and 12.1 MP photos with a 2” preview screen. Both include a waterproof case, wireless remote control, helmet mount, ATV/bicycle mount and Micro SD card support for expandable memory.

Vivitar will be exhibiting at Booth #13228 at the Las Vegas Convention Center Central Hall at the 2016 International CES conference running January 6-9 in Las Vegas.
